How I Work

Therapy with me is real, direct, and not stiff. We'll get into hard things, and we'll probably laugh while we do it— because life is fucking absurd sometimes.

I don't do one-size-fits-all approach to therapy, but here's what I draw on:

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a structured therapy for processing painful memories and experiences. It's often used for trauma, and it can also help with anxiety, phobias, and the old stuff that keeps feeling current. We go slow. I’ll explain exactly what EMDR involves before we try anything, and we’ll treat it as an experiment, not a leap.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is about changing your relationship with your thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them. We work on noticing what your mind is doing, making room for uncomfortable stuff, and moving toward the things that matter to you. It's especially useful if your brain is loud and you're tired of arguing with it.

Authenticity

I curse, I make facial expressions, I remember the name of your childhood dog that you mentioned in passing seven sessions ago, I laugh when things are funny. It takes the pressure down, it makes it easier to say the true thing out loud, and it's a lot more fun than being serious all the time. You don't have to perform— you just have to be you.

Other tools

Depending on what you need, I also use DBT skills, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Motivational Interviewing.
