In person therapy in Asheville, NC and via telehealth throughout North Carolina, Virginia, and Georgia
On paper, you're doing fine. You show up, you get it done, you're the one people count on.
Meanwhile your brain is running a nonstop simulation of everything that could go wrong, replaying something you said three years ago, and drafting a text you'll never send.
That's overthinking, and it's a form of anxiety. It's also exhausting.
What it can look like:
Rehearsing conversations before they happen, then replaying them after
Not being able to relax until everything is done (and it's never all done)
Needing to get it perfect, or not starting at all
Asking everyone what they think, then not trusting any of it
Talking to yourself in a way you'd never talk to a friend
Pushing hard for weeks, then crashing
How therapy helps:
We'll figure out what all that worrying is trying to do for you. Usually it's trying to keep you safe, or keep everyone else happy, and it has gotten out of hand. From there, we build skills for when your brain starts spiraling, and we work on what's underneath it, so you're not just managing the noise forever.
I use a mix of approaches, including ACT, DBT, IFS, and EMDR. You can read more on the How I Work page.
